This Contemplative Prayer practice is perfect for individuals but may also be used in your work with small groups, or retreats and can be used with Sacred Writings of any Tradition, Poetry, Literature, Wisdom Literature, Chants, Music ( Auditio Divina), and Sacred Art…. Your Facilitator: Kathy Tosney
Kathy Tosney is an experienced Interfaith Spiritual Director, Retreat Director, and Supervisor. She offers both in-person and online spiritual direction, retreats, and supervision. Kathy taught contemplative prayer practices for 10 years as a retreat team member for Mepkin Abbey’s Institute for Contemplative Eldering Retreats. She is also Mepkin Abbey’s Liaison for their Zip Code Contemplation Program & weekly online Centering Prayer sessions. She has offered Retreats at Yale Divinity School in CT, Mepkin Trappist Abbey in South Carolina, Eastern Point Jesuit Retreat House in Gloucester, MA, and Nazareth Retreat House in Louisville, KY. Kathy offers a “6-Week Individual Ignatian Retreat,” (In-person or Zoom) which she created and has adapted from the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. She also directs the Silent 30 Day Ignatian retreat at Eastern Point Retreat House. She has a deep passion for teaching interfaith contemplative prayer practices. Kathy has spent several stays living with a group of Carmelite hermits in Ireland exploring Carmelite Spirituality and the Christian mystics.
Kathy has twenty years of Clinical Social Work experience and Hospice work. She brings a spiritual/psychological integrative approach to Spiritual Direction to help you explore your unique spiritual journey. She holds a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Spiritual Direction Internship Initiative in Boston, MA. and is a member of Spiritual Directors International and the Ignatian Spiritual Partnership of Maine. Kathy lives in Portland, Maine, where she is the proud mother of two adult sons and grandmother of four amazing young grandchildren.
